So I dropped the budget ball for a couple months

August 4th, 2008 at 07:26 pm

Somehow this summer has gotten away from me. I stopped reading this site, stopped being responsible with our money... Just quit. So now I am back. I read a couple entries on Saturday, and went full course today. You all have no idea how much I have missed this. I love to read about the success that happens here. I am learning that freedom from responsible spending doesn't make me (or my family) happier. In fact, I know that I have been more stressed. The positive choice I did make this summer was to have $200 a month taken out automatically to the ing acct. That way it's out of sight, out of spend.

I understand. One day away from the boards and suddenly I am $400 broker. No clue why, but the blogging helps!

Welcome back! I find setting trackable short-term and long-term goals, and updating each time I take a step, keeps me motivated to blog regularly. I haven't taken a break since I started over a year ago!

Well, join the club. I had that problem before I knew about the website, like 'why bother?'. I'd always snap out of my dizzy-unconscious-over-spending mode after some damage had been done and try to regroup and recover and start the cycle all over again. Progress is progress and every day's a new day. Hang in there. I now hold a household finance meeting with myself to help me stay on track. I'm the only one that shows up to the meeting (long story), but that too, along with this websites and a few books I own, has helped me stay more aware of money and what it looks like and where it's a little leaky. Automatic savings deposits are THE BEST! Hang in there.

Well, welcome back! And great job with that automatic savings to ING!
