So much has happened in the past 5 years. I had hoped to be out of debt. That didn't happen. Probably because I didn't plan for it to happen. Haphazardly paid bills, didn't save when I should have, and life happened.
The good news is that I finally opened a new checking/savings account with automatic deposit to savings. And have set up a budget to finally get rid of the credit cards. I have to figure out how to do the sidebars and will update the rather nasty details of our debt, but feel so much better about at least acknowledging the issue! And my husband is on board
5 years later, finally focusing on our debt...

I suggest you start with smart, small easy to do steps forward. Pay attention to details like due date to avoid unnecessary fees, and no/low cost banking. [banks are adding fees for items that had been free]. Ask to change due dates if they are inconvenient.
It really helps to track spending for a few weeks; where does the money go? What interest rates are being charged? If crdt card payments are up-to-date, phone and request they lower the rate. An alternate is to transfer to 0% interest but it has potential to smack you if they charge a transfer fee as well as move to super high interest if the balance isn't cleared within the stated time frame.
You can get this done one day at a time!
